HTML Formatter

Powered by UtilBrix

HTML is displayed as text and never executed. Minify removes comments and safe inter-block whitespace while preserving text, inline spacing, and preformatted content.

Your inputs stay in your browser. No account required.

How to use this tool

  1. Paste the HTML fragment or document as text.
  2. Choose Format and indentation, or Minify for compact markup.
  3. Run the tool and inspect the result before copying it into your project.

Formula & method

The HTML formatter uses an HTML-aware parser and printer. Two-space, four-space, and tab indentation are available. Meaningful whitespace and embedded language boundaries are respected. The result is shown as text and never inserted into the page as executable HTML.

A practical example

A compact <main><h1>Hello</h1><p>Welcome</p></main> fragment can be formatted for reading while preserving its element structure.

When this tool is useful

Make a compact template easier to inspect or remove unnecessary formatting from a fragment. Keeping the result as text allows you to review markup without rendering an untrusted document inside the page.

Common mistakes and limitations

  • Formatting is not HTML sanitization and does not remove all unsafe behavior from markup.
  • Whitespace can affect inline text and preformatted content. Preview important changes in the application that consumes the output.

Frequently asked questions

Does the tool execute scripts in the pasted HTML?

No. The result is presented as text. Pasting a script tag does not run that script inside the formatter.

Will it fix every broken HTML document?

No. A parser may format a recoverable fragment or report an error, but it does not know your intended structure, accessibility requirements, or framework behavior.
