How to use this tool

  1. Choose a schedule preset or enter the five custom cron fields.
  2. Select the time zone in which the schedule should be interpreted.
  3. Generate the expression and inspect the next run times, especially near a clock change.

Formula & method

The five Unix fields describe minute, hour, day of month, month, and day of week. Asterisks allow all values; commas list values, hyphens define ranges, and slashes define steps. Upcoming runs are calculated using the selected time zone.

A practical example

0 9 * * 1-5 means 09:00 Monday through Friday. The displayed next five runs reflect the selected time zone and daylight-saving rules.

When this tool is useful

Prepare a recurring job schedule and sanity-check whether it runs on the intended days. Reviewing actual upcoming occurrences is easier than relying only on a compact expression.

Common mistakes and limitations

  • This generates five-field Unix-style expressions; some schedulers expect seconds, a year field, or a different dialect.
  • The expression does not execute a job. Configure the scheduler and its time zone separately.

Frequently asked questions

Does */5 mean five minutes after I start a job?

In the minute field it selects matching clock minutes, such as 00, 05, and 10. It is not a timer measured from the moment you start the process.

Why can production run times differ from the preview?

A different scheduler dialect, time zone, or daylight-saving policy can change behavior. Match those settings with the system where the expression will be installed.
