How to use this tool

  1. Enter the starting date and how many business days to move forward or backward.
  2. Choose working weekdays and enter holidays that should not count.
  3. Calculate the destination date and check it against your required deadline convention.

Formula & method

Move forward or backward one date at a time and count only selected weekdays that are not holidays. The starting date is excluded from the count. Zero business days leaves the starting date unchanged, even on a weekend.

A practical example

Starting on Friday and adding one business day with a Monday–Friday schedule returns Monday, unless Monday is a listed holiday.

When this tool is useful

Estimate delivery dates, review task deadlines, or schedule follow-ups using a known working calendar. This is particularly helpful when a public holiday interrupts a normal workweek.

Common mistakes and limitations

  • The starting date is excluded, so adding one business day starts counting from the next date.
  • Business deadlines may also have cut-off times or special rules that a date-only calculation cannot apply.

Frequently asked questions

What happens when I add zero business days?

The original date is returned unchanged, including when it falls on a weekend or holiday. Zero is not treated as an instruction to move to the next workday.

Can I use a Sunday-to-Thursday workweek?

Yes. Select the weekdays that apply and enter the relevant holidays. The result follows your selected schedule rather than a country-wide holiday database.
