How to use this tool

  1. Choose the pay-period conversion or Salary hike mode.
  2. Enter the gross salary or hourly amount; for hourly calculations, set paid hours per week and paid weeks per year.
  3. For a hike, enter current and new salary on the same pay-period basis.
  4. Calculate and compare the equivalent gross amounts.

Formula & method

Monthly pay multiplied by 12 gives an annual equivalent. Hourly pay multiplied by paid hours per week and paid weeks per year gives an annual equivalent. A salary hike is (new − current) ÷ current × 100. All results describe gross pay.

A practical example

Monthly pay of 50,000 currency units is equivalent to 600,000 currency units annually. An increase from 50,000 currency units to 60,000 currency units is 10,000 currency units or 20%.

When this tool is useful

Put two gross-pay offers on the same time basis or check a proposed percentage increase. For hourly work, adjust the paid-week assumption to match the arrangement instead of assuming every calendar week is paid.

Common mistakes and limitations

  • This is a gross-pay conversion, not an income-tax or take-home-pay calculator.
  • Do not compare a monthly current salary with an annual new salary in the hike fields.

Frequently asked questions

Why does hourly-to-monthly use an annual average?

The tool first calculates annual gross pay from hours and paid weeks, then divides by 12. Actual monthly payslips can vary with the number of paid hours in each month.

Are overtime, bonuses, and benefits included?

They are not modeled separately. Compare base pay first and account for those components outside the result so the assumptions remain clear.
